The Baton Rouge Health-Tech Catalyst program is excited to announce the release the 2023 Launchpad Innovation Pilot Awards Request for Proposal (RFP). This RFP will fund local community-based proof of concept demonstration (demo) projects submitted by local innovative clinicians, engineers, inventors, scientists, and other local innovation contributors who submit their application in conjunction with a letter of support from one of the BRHD’s member institutions.

  3. Attend Launchpad Office Hours as needed. These informal technical assistance sessions, are completely optional, but will be offered via zoom on Wednesdays and Fridays during the month of March (starting March 8th). Feel free to pop in to one, or all, of these reoccurring sessions if you have questions, want to see what questions others are asking, or if you need to dialogue with a BRHD team member.   4. Submit your Launchpad application and required attachments by March 31st, 2023 at 12:00 noon.

About Launchpad

Have an innovative research idea that works to support those who need it most in our local community? Are you looking for seed funding to help you launch your project? Launchpad funding may be able to help you to successfully implement your project and create the positive impact that our community needs!

  • What’s the goal of Launchpad? Launchpad works to strengthen innovation networks between Health District members by identifying local talent and supporting technology development that fosters innovation and collaboration.

  • Who can apply? Lead applicants must be current employees of a Baton Rouge Health District Member Institution. However, we highly encourage non-member institutions to seek partnership with existing member organizations and submit collaborative pilot project applications.

  • What kind of projects is Launchpad looking to fund? Launchpad funding is looking to support project that look to further the Baton Rouge Health District, work pillars of Health Place, Health Education & Workforce, Health Innovation & Research, and Coalition Building.

  • How many Launchpad grants will be awarded? We anticipate this competitive funding process to support two awards with an award ceiling of $30,000 each.

The release of the 2023 Launchpad RFP comes as a follow up to the successful inaugural round of Launchpad Innovation Pilot Awards that provided funding to three projects in May 2022. Congratulations to our initial pilot project award recipients:

  • BRG Fit! Total Health and Wellbeing - Baton Rouge General, in partnership with EBR School System

  • Increasing Endometrial Cancer Awareness and Cure for Louisiana Women - Pennington Biomedical Research Center, in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Woman's & LSU Health Science Center - New Orleans

  • Palliative Care Program for Persons Living with Dementia - Pennington Biomedical Research Center, in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Hospital
